Know your format
A subtitle, broken down.
Every SRT cue has a number, a start and end time, and your subtitle text. A blank line separates it from the next cue.
Timings are a starting point. Check the exported subtitles against your video before publishing.

Frequently asked questions
Are my files uploaded to a server?
No. Conversion runs in your browser. Your file contents are not uploaded or stored by SRT Pilot. The website itself is delivered over the internet.
How is timing calculated from plain text?
Choose a fixed duration for each subtitle, or estimate timing using characters per second or words per minute. These are draft timings, not automatic synchronization with audio or video.
What files can I use?
Text to SRT accepts plain text, TXT and Markdown files up to 5 MB. SRT to TXT accepts SRT and WebVTT files up to 25 MB. Both support UTF-8 and UTF-16 with a byte-order mark, with a maximum of 50,000 cues.
Do I need an account or subscription?
No. Both converters are free to use without an account. Open a tool, add your text or file, and download the result.
